My Favourite Movies

Favourite Movies - Glasgowfashiongirl

I mentioned in my 2016 Goals post how much I loved watching movies and how this year I would watch more - new and old. I thought it would be nice idea to share my favourite movies and in return you could recommend your favourite movies for me to watch.

I could quite happily watch my these movies over and over again and never get bored of them. Some of them I could probably play parts in as I have watched them so much. They might not be 'classic' movies and some of them definitely wouldn't win any awards but I love them.

I am sure I have probably missed some absolute crackers, but here are my favourite movies and yes, Leo does feature once or twice. Click on the names and you will be taken to the IMDb page. This is my go to site for movie reviews and details.

January Favourites

I am trying to be a good blogger, like I promised, and blog every week. I said in my last blog I wanted to add some new content to Glasgowfashiongirl and since the weather has been way to miserable for any outfit shoots I thought I would try something new. So here it is. A round up of my favourite things from December into January. Enjoy......

WATCHING

I lost a week of my life recently to this documentary, and also my mind. I am sure everyone knows about this documentary by now which is currently showing on Netflix. I won't give anything away, but this documentary will have you debating with your friends and questioning law enforcement and the court system for years to come. Fantastic TV, but prepare to be saddened and angry with the events that are shown. A must see!

BEAUTY

When it comes to make-up I can just about master the basics. I can apply foundation, highlight and slap on the blusher. I am even partial to a nice bright lip colour. Eyes. Eyes were something I could never do. Even when watching endless videos with amazing artists blending eyeshadows perfectly - I just couldn't do it. That was until I came across Lisa Benefit's You Tube channel. Lisa makes eye make-up, and make-up in general, look easy and fun. A lot of her videos also come with cameos from her gorgeous dog Snoppy - which means I am hooked.

Lisa released her Easy On The Eyes recently and with Santa bringing me lots of new make-up this has been my go to reference book for eye make-up. The book covers eye make-up looks in 5, 15 and 30 minutes and gives you step by step details on how to create the looks.

This book ties in perfectly with these amazing KIKO eyeshadows I purchased from their newly opened store in the Glasgow Fort. Now I may not know a lot about make-up but I know these are amazing. The pigment is fantastic and they stay on - even with no primer. I picked up shades 146 (pink) and 151(lilac) and they were only £2.90. I am definitely going back next week to pick up more.

INTERIORS

My favourite candle company Flamingo Candles have been keeping my home smelling amazing for the past couple of years. I recently tried out their scent melts and I am in love. The fragrance from the melts before you even burn them is amazing and I have taken to just leaving the box open in my room. As you can imagine they are even more amazing when they are burning. It is a great way to test out scents before buying candles.

You can now also join their The Melt Crowd. For £10 per month you will be sent 8 amazing scent melts and your first order comes with a wax burner. I guarantee you not be disappointed. Next on my list is the Parma Violets candle - yummy!!

READING

Ema's blog has been one of my favourites for a few years now. She has a great mix of fashion, beauty and general life posts. I love to see what Ema wears in her posts as she has her own sense of style and doesn't follow the crowd when it comes to fashion. We also share a love for all things Monki. You can also follow Ema on Instagram were I stalk her mostly haha!

FASHION

Can it please stop raining/snowing already so I can wear my amazing Ted and Muffy Comet boots* more? Aren't they just beautiful? I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them. They made me think of something Marie Antoinette would wear crossed with boots a Pirate would wear (haha). It is so unusual to find high boots in anything other than black. They were the perfect addition to my wardrobe. But best of all - they are now reduced in the Ted and Muffy sale from £375 to £150!!! And with the Ted and Muffy Fairytale Fit the boots will be fitted perfectly to your legs - so no falling down or too tight on your legs.

GENERAL

Obviously I couldn't mention my favourites in January and not mention the sales. I said this year I wouldn't buy much in the sales as I have tried to be a more sassy shopper and not buy stuff that I didn't really need. Well as you can guess I failed miserably - but I did need it all! I think my wardrobe is now stocked with enough clothes to see me into next year. All my favourite stores delivered me bargains - Monki, Topshop, Zara, Schuh, Skinnydip, Lazy Oaf................. Now I just need to find room in my wardrobe for all my new goodies.

So this post was a long one! Thank you to those who stayed with me to the end. I would love to know if this was something you enjoyed? I will be back in February with my next favourites instalment and back soon with another post.

Have a fantastic week! Love

2016 Goals

Glasgowfashiongirl - 2016 Goals

Happy New Year!

I know by this point you are probably sick to death of reading about people's new year resolutions/goals, but I felt if I put them out there then I would have to stick to them. Goals sounds so much better than resolutions - it is something to aim for rather than a must do.

Here are my 2016 goals.....

Watch more movies
Watching movies is one of my favourite hobbies. Nothing beats the excitement of going to the cinema to see a movie you have been longing to watch. Unfortunately, I don't really have anyone to go the cinema with (poor me!) so my cinema trips have been few and far between recently. But this will change! In 2016 if I really want to see a movie at the cinema and no one will come with me then I will simply go alone. It's not like you need anyone to talk to anyway. I am also going to try and watch at least one movie a week at home (come at me Sky Movies and Netflix).

Exercise more and get healthier in general
Now I am definitely not going on a diet. The word fills me with fear. But I am definitely going to be more conscious of what I am eating. Having put on a lot of weight over the past year and going up a dress size it is definitely time to stop with so much junk food and cakes. Cake why you taste so good?! And after a brief spell of running over the summer it is time to embrace exercise again. I haven't decided what this will consist of yet, but I am working on it. I will be healthier and thinner come Summer 2016.

Wear more colour
I am a big fan of wearing bright colours and this shall continue into 2016. Bright colours make you happy therefore wearing more colour will make me a happier person in 2016.

Improve my driving
I have been driving for around 7 years now. I wouldn't say I am a bad driver as such, but I really lack confidence when it comes to driving. I don't drive on the motorway unless I am forced to and I cannot for the life of me reverse park. I am also not that great at driving places I don't know. Okay this does make me sound like a really bad driver haha! Jimmy has promised to help me get over my fears this year and by the end of 2016 I will be driving as well as The Stig.

Blog more
I love blogging. I may not be the best writer in the world but it is something I have loved doing since I was young. I always say if I had the time I would definitely blog more. But here is the thing - I just need to make the time. I said at the end of last year I would try and blog at least once a week and I really will try. I am going to try to introduce some other aspects into my blog other than just fashion. I will continue to post outfit of the day posts as much as I can. I don't think I will ever be as comfortable as some people in front of a camera but I will keep practising those poses.

Save up for things I really want
I spent all of last year lusting over the Olympus Pen camera - the staple camera for all bloggers. I use an Olympus camera now so knew I would love the Pen. With all the money I wasted on crap last year I could have bought the camera 10 times over. Here I am in 2016 still lusting over the camera. So come February (who saves in January?!) my saving for the camera commences. I am also saving for my holiday to Copenhagen in June. I mean I need the camera for my holidays right?!

Cut back on my phone use
At the start of last year I started switching off my phone off for at least an hour a night while I read a book. This lasted for a while then I slowly slipped into the cycle of spending most my night looking at social media, shops, news, etc. on my phone. Whole days and nights wasted looking at other people's lives when I should be enjoying my own. So this year I plan to cut back on my phone usage and use my time more constructively - maybe watching movies, learning to drive better and blogging :) .

So there you have it - my goals for 2016. Let's hope come 2017 I can say I achieved them. There are of course some things that will never change no matter what the year - I will continue to be a shopaholic in 2016 and will continue to obsess over Carrie Bradshaw and SATC in general. Why change the habits of a lifetime?!

Have you made any goals for 2016? I would love to hear them.

Lots of love
