2016 Goals

Glasgowfashiongirl - 2016 Goals

Happy New Year!

I know by this point you are probably sick to death of reading about people's new year resolutions/goals, but I felt if I put them out there then I would have to stick to them. Goals sounds so much better than resolutions - it is something to aim for rather than a must do.

Here are my 2016 goals.....

Watch more movies
Watching movies is one of my favourite hobbies. Nothing beats the excitement of going to the cinema to see a movie you have been longing to watch. Unfortunately, I don't really have anyone to go the cinema with (poor me!) so my cinema trips have been few and far between recently. But this will change! In 2016 if I really want to see a movie at the cinema and no one will come with me then I will simply go alone. It's not like you need anyone to talk to anyway. I am also going to try and watch at least one movie a week at home (come at me Sky Movies and Netflix).

Exercise more and get healthier in general
Now I am definitely not going on a diet. The word fills me with fear. But I am definitely going to be more conscious of what I am eating. Having put on a lot of weight over the past year and going up a dress size it is definitely time to stop with so much junk food and cakes. Cake why you taste so good?! And after a brief spell of running over the summer it is time to embrace exercise again. I haven't decided what this will consist of yet, but I am working on it. I will be healthier and thinner come Summer 2016.

Wear more colour
I am a big fan of wearing bright colours and this shall continue into 2016. Bright colours make you happy therefore wearing more colour will make me a happier person in 2016.

Improve my driving
I have been driving for around 7 years now. I wouldn't say I am a bad driver as such, but I really lack confidence when it comes to driving. I don't drive on the motorway unless I am forced to and I cannot for the life of me reverse park. I am also not that great at driving places I don't know. Okay this does make me sound like a really bad driver haha! Jimmy has promised to help me get over my fears this year and by the end of 2016 I will be driving as well as The Stig.

Blog more
I love blogging. I may not be the best writer in the world but it is something I have loved doing since I was young. I always say if I had the time I would definitely blog more. But here is the thing - I just need to make the time. I said at the end of last year I would try and blog at least once a week and I really will try. I am going to try to introduce some other aspects into my blog other than just fashion. I will continue to post outfit of the day posts as much as I can. I don't think I will ever be as comfortable as some people in front of a camera but I will keep practising those poses.

Save up for things I really want
I spent all of last year lusting over the Olympus Pen camera - the staple camera for all bloggers. I use an Olympus camera now so knew I would love the Pen. With all the money I wasted on crap last year I could have bought the camera 10 times over. Here I am in 2016 still lusting over the camera. So come February (who saves in January?!) my saving for the camera commences. I am also saving for my holiday to Copenhagen in June. I mean I need the camera for my holidays right?!

Cut back on my phone use
At the start of last year I started switching off my phone off for at least an hour a night while I read a book. This lasted for a while then I slowly slipped into the cycle of spending most my night looking at social media, shops, news, etc. on my phone. Whole days and nights wasted looking at other people's lives when I should be enjoying my own. So this year I plan to cut back on my phone usage and use my time more constructively - maybe watching movies, learning to drive better and blogging :) .

So there you have it - my goals for 2016. Let's hope come 2017 I can say I achieved them. There are of course some things that will never change no matter what the year - I will continue to be a shopaholic in 2016 and will continue to obsess over Carrie Bradshaw and SATC in general. Why change the habits of a lifetime?!

Have you made any goals for 2016? I would love to hear them.

Lots of love

  1. I could probably take on a fair few of these apart from watching more movies because I probanly watch too many! Haha! I've not made any resolutions because I never stick to them so I'm just going to go rogue in 2016 and see what happens! Good luck with reaching your goals this year - If you need any movie recommendations then I'd be happy to help!! Xx

    1. Going rogue sounds fun! Always happy to accept movie recommendations and also happy to have my favourite photographers help me reach my goals??? haha xxx

  2. These are pretty much the same as my goals for 2016! You should try yoga, I got into it a while ago and fell in love with it, don't get me wrong I'm still pretty much a beginner but you lose weight even though it doesn't feel like you're doing a lot, it helps with stress and anxiety and you would get that time away from your phone that you'd like!

    Good luck honey! Xx

    1. I used to do Yoga - I loved it. Its amazing how you don't think you are getting better then suddenly you realise you can do all the things you couldn't at the start. I should look for another class xx

  3. the phone usage is a good one.
we are all so addicted nowadays.

    1. I know. Missing out on our own lives following others. Its hard to stop but I am forcing myself to switch it off. xx

  4. Glad three of these are 'do more of the things I love' goals instead of feeling like you have to change, you're a fine example of the human race just as you are.

Joy, The Danish Girl, Star Wars and Creed are all on my cinema list for the next couple of weeks if you fancy a trip to cineworld ;-)

    1. Awww Ruth thank you!!!

Yes yes yes to The Danish Girl and star wars when I catch up. I heard Joy is Awful! Need to look up Creed. Think we could get a good wee cinema group set up xx

  5. Aaaah the Olympus Pen...it will be ours one day!! Haha 🙈 Love how you have included things that you love to do, rather than just things you 'must' do! One of my resolutions is to start my driving lessons again...I took them years ago but didn't have any confidence in myself and ended up stopping. Definitely going to try and stop doubting myself this year xx

    1. I was so over the camera for a while because everyone had it, then when I looked into cameras again I loved it again!

Definitely start your lessons again - make that your goal! xx

  6. Cute photo :)
