What You Should Be Wearing Over The Age Of 30

So what should you be wearing over the age of 30? Whatever the f**k you want to wear! Plain and simple. And if anyone tells you otherwise then tell them to f**k off!

Three things have stuck with me since turning 30 (many years ago), someone asking me "don't you think you are a little too old to be shopping in Topshop?" Reading that no one over the age of 30 should be wearing Reebok classic trainers and someone asking on Instagram asking if my Olaf pjs were from the children's section, then adding a haha in for good measure. Is there a style rule book that no one passed to me on my 30th Birthday? Do you turn 30 and suddenly have to abandon any sense of style, fun, love of certain shops and footwear?

I have never been a fan of fashion rules. I don't believe in dressing for your body shape, skin tone or hair colour. And I certainly don't believe in dressing for your age. I believe in dressing in whatever you love and makes you feel comfortable. Whatever makes you feel like you! And turning a certain age shouldn't mean you stop being you. Want to wear bright colours, then do it. Wear sequins to pop down to the supermarket, then do it! Rock at mini skirt at 70, then do it.

At 35 years old I don't fall into the target market of most of the shops I spend my money in. But I honestly don't care. I shop in shops because I love their clothes and they cater to my style. And what exactly is my style? Christ knows! All I know is I like what I like and that won't ever change - no matter what age I am. And this is something I really want to install in people. Please dress however you like and also let others dress however they like. You can shop in any shop. You can dye your hair any colour. There are no age restrictions when it comes to fashion and style.

For the record I will continue to shop in Topshop. Disney will feature heavily in my wardrobe because you know what - I love Disney. Along with Barbie, Hello Kitty and the likes. And as for those Reebok classics - I rocked them the first time round so you can be damned sure I am still rocking them now!

Until next time - keep breaking those rules kids!

  1. Love this Jennifer, years ago (when I was in my early/mid twenties) I got comments about not dressing for my age! But what really defines how you should dress and what is age appropriate? I turn 30 in a couple of months and I will be changing nothing about my style! I dress in stuff I love and feel comfortable in.

  3. Omg YES to everything you said in this!! I wear what I want and what I feel comfortable in, not what some people 'think' I should be wearing now that I'm 30! Life would be a lot easier if people worried more about themselves and less about others (and their dress sense!!!)
